Barbara Pearl Mattox Brizendine

Heaven received another angel October 9, 2026. Barbara Pearl Mattox Brizendine blessed all she met with her sweet smile and love for 91 years. Born August 6, 1935 to Orman and Arline "Polly" Mattox in New Castle, VA. Barbara was married to Lewis Edward Brizendine for 56 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Barbara Gail, and granddaughter Julie Sanford.

Continuing in life to remember her are her brothers Ed (Martha), Ronnie (Sherrie), Harold (Rachel), and sisters Haz Marks, and Nancy Mattox.

Her sister-in-law Joyce Headford and many nieces and nephews and their children.

Her son Kenneth Edward Brizendine (Anna) and daughter Leisa Luanne Brizendine Surface (Frank).

Grandchildren: Rachel Smith (Ricky), Kyle Edward (Sammie), David Conyers (Alex), Jennifer Maria Hegg, Lara Elizabeth Bice (David), Carter Alysanne Boaze (Michael), Olivia Pearl Hansen (Andrew).

Great-grandchildren: Nathan Smith, Avery Smith, Landon Smith, Amelia Lynn Louise Brizendine, Ryland Goode, Thomas Goode, Skylar Harper, David Byron Bice III, Bailey Virginia Hegg, Wyatt Chandler Hegg, Aurora Carter Bice, Edward Robert Boaze, and Henry Carter Boaze.

Barbara will be laid to rest in New Castle, VA, beside her husband, near her baby daughter and Mama and Daddy, noon November 21 at Brickey Cemetery in New Castle, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Amelia Emergency Squad (P.O. Box 888, Amelia, VA 23002) or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
