Paul Warren Langford Colb, 53, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, and cousin passed away surrounded by family on May 21, 2026.
Paul was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 11, 1972, son of Arthur Bernard Colb and Nellie Jo Lawson.
Paul had a naturally mechanical mind and he spent many years applying it in the field as an HVAC technician. He also spent time working as a mechanic’s assistant and produce associate, but his greatest role in life was being a musician. As a self-taught, left-handed bassist, he was inspired by the sounds he loved, and wrote original music for the band he co-founded, The Spaceheaters. For two decades, they played at a variety of local venues and traveled to perform on many stages. Paul had such a profound passion for music and his love spanned across many different genres and generations.
Paul enjoyed spending time with family and often liked reminiscing and retelling stories. He also enjoyed biking, gardening, cooking, thrifting, and immersing himself in the world of film and television. He deeply appreciated animals and always shared a mutual love with the many pets that he cared for throughout his lifetime. At times, Paul was a quiet observer, and at other times, he would make you laugh out loud with his wisecracks and antics. He was very thoughtful, inquisitive, and often skeptical, as he enjoyed pondering the unknown. He will forever be loved and missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his father, Bernie Colb, and his aunts, Marianna Marquis and Connie Mullins. He is survived by his mother, Nellie Jo Colb; his sister, Leslie Boyd and husband, Jesse; his nephew, Vogun Boyd; his aunt, Kay Gilbert and husband, Butch; his aunt, Lolanda Cooper; and many loving cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to Hungry for Music. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
